Our venture into hides & leather began in February of 2020 when Dalton decided to drive 12 hours straight through the night to get the first test batch of 10 hides to Hermann Oak tannery in Saint Louis!

We started out sending full, NON fleshed hides to our tannery at first, until we could source a proper fleshing machine.

After much testing, we went all in, securing a 30,000 pound hide fleshing machine from Italy. Here it is being unloaded into our facility.

Unloading the first batch of test hides in Saint Louis.

Strapping down our first real shipment of NON fleshed hides!

Italian hide processing equipment was required, as the hide industry is not what it used to be domestically.

Dalton & Donta worked together to flesh the first hides on the new (used) fleshing machine! It took all day but we eventually figured it out!

This is a fresh hide before entering the machine.

Here is a hide after the first and second pass through the machine. It is stripped clean and ready for salting!

The first pallets of fleshed hides get loaded onto the truck, destined for St. Louis & Chicago, to be returned to Moore & Giles as premium Virginia raised leather!
